Set up product packaging

Add the packs, cases, and pallets a product comes in, then order, receive, and count in them.

Add a package

A package is how a product comes packed, like a case of 24 or a pallet of cases. Each package holds a fixed number of what's inside it.

Open the product's packaging from:

  • Your stock (Inventory → Stock, then open the item): the Packaging tab.

  1. Click Add to chain, then Add logistics package.

  2. Type a Package name, like "Case of 24", and pick a Package type: Pack, Case, Inner case, Pallet, Crate, or Custom. Picked Custom? Type a Custom type label, like "Tray".

  3. Under What's inside, type how many and pick what goes in: a single unit, marked (single), or a package you already added. Vendora shows the total in units as you type. Setting up a pallet of cases? Add the case first, then pick it here.

  4. Click Add package. It shows up in the product's packaging, ready to use.

Heads-up: A package applies to the product at all your stores.

Rename or remove a package

To change a package's name or type, click the pencil icon on it, make your changes, and click Save.

To remove a package, click the trash icon, then Remove. Receipts and orders that already used it are not affected.

Heads-up: You can't change what's inside a package. Remove it and add a new one instead. If the package sits inside a bigger one, remove the bigger one first.

Use packages day to day

You can use packages when you order (from Inventory → Stock, a vendor's Catalog tab, the Order Cart, or a purchase order), receive, count, adjust, transfer, and break down stock.

  1. In the unit dropdown, pick the package. Each one shows how many units it holds, like Case (24). A new line starts on Each, or LB for items sold by weight.

  2. Type how many packages. Vendora works it out in units, so 3 of Case (24) is 72. Screens with a Total qty column show that number.

Got a one-off size you haven't set up? Pick Custom, then type the Pack size (units in one package) and how many under Units. Custom isn't offered when you order from Inventory → Stock, a vendor's Catalog tab, or the Order Cart, or when you break down stock.

Heads-up: Want new purchase order lines to start in what you last received? In Inventory → Settings, set Pre-fill new order lines to From last delivery. It's set per store.
