A KDS tablet shows tickets, prints them at its stations' printers, or both. Decide what it does, connect it, then link it to its stations.
Choose what the tablet does
Print & display: shows tickets and prints them. Most kitchens: use this for one tablet, for example at expo.
Display only: shows tickets, and prints one only when someone taps print on it. Use this for every other screen.
Print only: prints tickets and shows print status instead of tickets. Use this for a tablet that just keeps the printers going.
⚠️ One printing tablet per station. If two tablets set to Print & display or Print only both handle the Grill, every grill ticket prints twice. Set the extra tablets to Display only. A station whose printer isn't an Epson network printer needs its one printing tablet, or nothing prints there.
Connect the tablet
If the tablet will print, put it on the same network as the kitchen printers.
Open the Vendora KDS app on the tablet. It shows Scan the QR code below to begin and a 6-character code.
Scan the QR code with your phone and sign in to Vendora. Or, on a computer, go to the address on the tablet, enter the code under Device Code, and click Continue.
On Add a new Device, choose the Location.
For Device Name, enter what the kitchen calls it, like "Expo" or "Grill screen". You'll pick the tablet by this name later.
Set Device Type to Kitchen Display System.
Click Add.
Within a few seconds the tablet shows No stations assigned until you link it.
Link the tablet to its stations
Open your KDS settings (see Get started with the Kitchen Display System (KDS)). The Displays tab opens first.
Click the pencil icon next to the tablet's name.
Under Operation mode, choose what the tablet does.
Under Linked stations, tick each station whose tickets it should show or print. For expo, click Select all.
Click Save changes.
You need admin access to Vendora; if you can't save, ask your account owner.
Check it worked
At a register, place a test order with an item for one of the tablet's stations. Within a few seconds the ticket shows on the tablet, and if the tablet prints, it prints once at that station.
If it doesn't work
The tablet still shows the code after you clicked Add: close and reopen the KDS app, then connect it with the new code.
Tickets show but don't print: check the tablet isn't Display only, the station has a printer (Add kitchen printers), and the tablet is on the printer's network.
Every ticket prints twice at one station: set one of the printing tablets to Display only.
Wrong location or device type, or replacing a tablet: contact support. You can't disconnect a tablet yourself.
