Add kitchen printers

Choose how each kitchen printer connects, add it, link it to a station, and check that it prints.

Add a printer for each station that needs paper tickets.

⚠️ If two tablets print for the same station, every ticket there prints twice. Give each station only one tablet set to Print only or Print & display, and set any other tablet there to Display only (see Set up a KDS display (tablet)).

Choose how your printer connects

Most kitchens: Epson network printer. Use it for an Epson TM-m30II, TM-m30III, TM-T88VI, TM-T88VII, TM-m50, TM-m50II, TM-H6000V, or TM-L100. It prints on its own, even with tablets off, and you can check it from Vendora.

Tablet relay (legacy): use it for an Epson TM-T20, an original TM-m30, or a Bixolon or Citizen network printer. It prints through a KDS tablet, which must stay on and on the printer's network.

Epson TM-U220 and Star printers aren't supported. Unsure? Ask support before you buy.

Add the printer

  1. In Vendora, go to Settings → Devices, open the Kitchen Display Systems tab, and click KDS V2.

  2. Open the Printers tab and click Add device.

  3. In Name, say where it sits, like "Grill printer".

  4. Choose the Connection type. If it isn't there, the printer prints through a tablet; to use an Epson network printer, contact support.

  5. In Address, enter the printer's IP address. Hold Feed while switching the printer on to print it.

  6. In Paper width, match the paper roll. Most kitchen printers use 80 mm (48 cols).

  7. Click Add device. For an Epson network printer, a window shows its connection details: click Print these instructions before you close it, because the password isn't shown again. Then enter them into the printer, following Set up an Epson network printer for kitchen tickets.

Link it to a station

  1. Open the Stations tab and click the pencil icon next to the station.

  2. Under Devices, tick the printer.

  3. Click Save changes.

Print a test ticket

Place a test order with an item that prints at this station. The ticket should print within seconds. For an Epson network printer, you can also click Send test print once its setup window says Printer connected.

If it doesn't print

  • A Tablet relay (legacy) printer prints nothing: check the station's print tablet is on and on the printer's network, and the Address matches the status sheet.

  • Setup window stays on "Waiting for the printer to connect…": re-check the details you entered into the printer.

  • Test page prints, orders don't: check the printer is ticked on the station, and see Choose what prints where.

  • Every ticket prints twice: set all but one of the station's tablets to Display only.
