Set prep times for scheduled orders

Set how long items take so tickets for online orders print in time to be ready at pickup or delivery.

Prep time makes tickets for online orders print early enough to be ready on time, instead of the moment the order comes in.

Pickup at 12:30. Burger 15 min, fries 5 min, both at the Grill. The grill ticket prints at 12:15.

⚠️ An item with no prep time prints at the pickup time itself, too late to cook it. Before you take scheduled orders, give every department you sell online a prep time.

Register orders always print right away. Online ASAP orders count as due after your store's ASAP padding (15 minutes unless changed).

Set a prep time

You need admin access to Vendora; if you can't save, ask your account owner.

  1. In Vendora, go to Settings → Devices, open the Kitchen Display Systems tab, and click KDS V2.

  2. Open the Prep time tab.

  3. Click the time next to a department (— Unset if it has none), enter the Minutes, and click Set.

  4. Click Save changes.

What to enter: the minutes from the ticket printing to that item being ready to hand over. Enter the item's own time, not the order's: the slowest item at a station sets when that station's one ticket prints.

Most kitchens: set one time per department, then change only categories that are much faster or slower.

Check it worked

  1. Place an online pickup order for an hour from now, with an item that has a prep time.

  2. On a tablet showing that station, tap 📅 Scheduled. The ticket should show the pickup time minus the prep time.

If tickets print too early or too late

  • Prints at the pickup time: the item has no prep time. Set one on its department or category.

  • Prints as soon as the order comes in: the order is due sooner than the prep time. Normal for most ASAP orders.

  • Quick items print far too early: a slow item at the same station set the time. Check its prep time.

  • A change didn't affect an order: new prep times only apply to orders placed after you save.
